Akwaaba!!

We are making some big changes at the Accra Artisans Exchange! As you can see, we have updated our
website. We hope you find the information clear, concise, and helpful in making your decisions about joining
us for an unbelievable experience in Ghana.

We have added several more training tracks to our offerings. In addition to the opportunity to apprentice
one-on-one with professional drum carvers, drummers, and dancers in Accra, we are now offering the
opportunity to apprentice with professional artisans in other forms of craftsmanship. These include:

                    kente weaving                                batik making

                     wood carving                                basket/furniture weaving

Check out the ABOUT page for more details. This is a rare opportunity to study directly with artisans in their
own environment. These skills are handed down one-on-one not in universities and not in classrooms; there
are no degrees or university-issued diplomas. There is only humble, hard work, sometimes cramped quarters,
sometimes hot sun, blisters and aches, and a unique tradition passed down through personal relationships
and a mutual passion to create beautiful and functional art. Join us in Accra for a life-changing educational
experience where you will learn a valuable trade as well as experience the remarkable, down to earth vibe of
the artisans who have mastered it.

We have had to raise our fees to US$1000. Check out the
ABOUT page for more details. Unfortunately, the
high price of fuel, which raises the price of virtually everything else, has made it impossible for us to continue
to charge the old fee and still be able to pay out teachers and everyone who works with us a fair wage, which
is one of our main goals. Our program is still one of the most affordable of it's kind. We are striving more than
ever to facilitate experiences for our students which we hope make this increase worth it.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to all those brave, pioneering, talented students who have joined us in
Accra thus far! You have made our program a wonderful success. You have traveled half way across the
world and opened your hearts and minds to a culture so different from yours and you gave so much in return!
None of you will be forgotten and you all are missed.

Check out our new site and please email or call with any questions!

Happy Travels,
Orly
